Cheesy Cajun Pasta

Cheesy Cajun Pasta is a great one-pot dish for hectic weeknights. In just 30 minutes you can have a flavorful dish ready for the whole family!

This recipe features pasta, a heavenly cheese sauce, and your choice of meat. I like to use Kielbasa, however it is very versatile so feel free to add chicken or shrimp or a combination of all!

Pair this dish with a side salad or garlic bread and you’ve got a pretty great new meal to throw into your rotation!

Getting Started

Since this is a one-pot dish, you’ll want to make sure you have a medium-large sized pot with a lid that fits. There is nothing more frustrating than discovering “simmer covered for xxx minutes” as the last step of a recipe. Only to discover I didn’t use a pot that has a lid that fits. Maybe that’s just me?? But I definitely have quite a mismatched collection of cookware!

Moving on…

When you have THE pot, turn the heat to medium and add a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. Slice your Kielbasa into coins, about a quarter inch thick, and add to the pot. Cook this until it starts to lightly brown.

Once the Kielbasa is browned, add pasta, heavy cream, chicken stock, garlic, cajun seasoning and sour cream. As if the heavy cream wasn’t rich enough, the sour cream takes it over the top!

Since you have carefully selected THE perfect pot and lid, turn the heat down to low-medium and put the lid on. This will cook covered for 25 minutes. It helps to evenly cook the pasta by stirring occasionally.

When the pasta is done, add shredded parmesan cheese. This will melt beautifully into the rich sauce, but also leave little pockets of cheese, which just so happens to be my favorite part!

Doesn’t this look SO good?!
