Jalapeno Popper Crescent Rolls

If you are looking for a quick and easy appetizer, you have come to the right place! Jalapeno Popper Crescent Rolls give you the classic taste of bacon wrapped jalapenos without having to fire up the grill.

If you are from the Midwest, like me, then you know it gets REALLY cold in the winter and the grill is sometimes not an option – even for the hardcore grillers out there!

With that being said, this is a great take on a familiar recipe that can be made all year round!

The Filling

The filling for the crescent rolls is so good you can eat it by the spoonful! You will need cream cheese, shredded cheese (I used Colby Jack since I had that on hand), cooked bacon, garlic powder and, of course, a jalapeno.

For the jalapeno, cut the pepper open and remove the stem, ribs and seeds. Knowing that these were only going to be in the oven as long as it took to bake the crescent dough, I diced the jalapenos into tiny pieces. I wanted them to still have a nice bite to them, but not a big crunch.

You will also crumble or cut the bacon into small pieces that way it blends well into the cheese mixture and each bite will have little pieces of bacon in it! If you are short on time, or simply don’t want to make a whole batch of bacon, then you can certainly swap this out for pre-packaged bacon crumbles. The taste will be great either way!

Jalapeno Popper Ingredients

Once these ingredients are all mixed up, it’s time to move on to the next step.

Filling the Crescent Rolls

Now it’s time to pop open the can of crescent rolls. I like to lay them out on a cutting mat, like this one, because the dough doesn’t stick to it and it is so easy to clean.

To each piece of dough, add a heaping tablespoon of the jalapeno popper filling to the widest part of the triangle. Lightly take the back of your spoon to smear it roughly halfway down. Between 8 pieces of dough, I used all of the filling and thought it was the perfect amount.

Rolling Them Up

Once all of the filling is on the dough, gently roll each triangle up – starting with the wide bottom and ending with the pointy top.

Now, even the easiest recipes have one important step, so don’t forget this part: Make sure you pinch the dough closed on the ends (you don’t want to see any filling peeking through). If you don’t, it will all spill out once it’s baking in the oven. I don’t want to be responsible for any “Pinterest fails” so re-read that part if you need to – haha!

Jalapeno Popper Rolls

Place the rolls seam side down on an ungreased baking sheet. Brush one tablespoon of melted butter over each roll and bake for 11-12 minutes at 375 degrees.

Baked Jalapeno Popper Crescents

Pretty easy, right? Now once they are done baking and have a golden brown color, resist the temptation to bite into one right away. Let it rest for a few minutes.

I’ve learned over the years the rush to shove one in your mouth is NOT worth it. Because of this life lesson, I can’t say from experience with these in particular, but I would imagine it would have the same intensity of biting into a boiling hot Hot Pocket (and I can say with certainty the Hot Pocket was my hard learned lesson back in the day).

But once they are cooled just a bit, you can finally enjoy your Jalapeno Popper Crescent Rolls! Don’t they look SO good?!
